Elizabeth Cook

Elizabeth “Liz” Cook joined Atlas Law Center as a law graduate, where she focuses on employment law and advocating for employees navigating some of the most difficult moments in their professional lives.

Liz represents individuals facing workplace discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wage and hour disputes, and other employment-related matters. She was drawn to employment law because it provides an opportunity to make a direct and meaningful difference in people’s lives. She believes that strong, compassionate advocacy can help individuals understand their rights and achieve meaningful outcomes when they have been treated unfairly in the workplace.

Experience & Approach

Liz earned her undergraduate degree in Political Science and American Culture from the University of Michigan and her Juris Doctor, magna cum laude, from Loyola University Chicago School of Law in 2026.

During law school, Liz developed extensive experience in trial advocacy and legal writing. She competed on Loyola’s Civil Mock Trial Team for two years and served as co-captain during her final year. She has continued her involvement with the team by returning as a coach.

Liz also served as Assistant Executive Director of the Mock Trial Board, Staff Editor and later Senior Editor of the Consumer Law Review, Vice President of the Women’s Law Society, and Director of Communications for Loyola’s First Generation Law Students organization.

Her commitment to public service and advocacy extended beyond the law school community. Liz served as an Edward Coles Fellow at the Illinois Human Rights Commission, where she gained valuable experience working with issues involving civil and human rights. She also tutored more than 70 law students in their Torts course, reflecting her commitment to mentorship and helping others succeed.

Liz brings a combination of trial advocacy training, legal research and writing experience, and a strong commitment to public interest work to her practice. She approaches each case with the goal of listening carefully to clients, understanding their circumstances, and helping them navigate the legal process with confidence.

Why I Practice Law

Liz chose to practice employment law because she believes that everyone deserves to be treated fairly and with dignity in the workplace.

She is passionate about advocating for employees who may feel that they do not have a voice or do not know where to turn when they experience discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wage violations, or other unfair treatment at work.

For Liz, practicing law is about more than understanding legal rules—it is about using those rules to help real people navigate challenging circumstances and pursue the justice they deserve.
