Abbey Peterson

Abbey Peterson joined Atlas Law Center in 2024 as an Employment Attorney and has dedicated her legal career to employment and labor law. Today, Abbey leads the firm’s Employment Law Intake Team, where she helps guide the intake process and works to ensure that prospective clients receive thoughtful attention and a clear understanding of their potential employment law claims.

Abbey brings a strong academic background in employment law and a deep interest in the intersection of law and the human experiences behind each case. She believes that effective advocacy requires more than understanding complex legal rules, it requires listening to people, understanding their experiences and perspectives, and using the law as a tool to create opportunity, accountability, and meaningful change.

Experience & Approach

Abbey’s legal experience has focused almost entirely on employment and labor law, with a brief stint in personal injury law. Before joining Atlas Law Center, she served as an Associate in the Labor and Employment Practice Group at Morgan, Lewis & Bockius from 2017 to 2020, where she gained experience working on a broad range of labor and employment matters. Prior to that, Abbey served as a Law Clerk for Federal Judge Gerald J. Pappert from 2016 to 2017.

Abbey brings a thoughtful and analytical approach to employment law. Her experience working in a large labor and employment practice, combined with her judicial clerkship, has given her a strong foundation in legal research, analysis, and advocacy. In her role as head of the Employment Law Intake Team, Abbey applies that experience to helping prospective clients navigate the initial stages of seeking legal assistance, identifying employment issues that may require further attention, serving as the team’s subject-matter expert, and providing ongoing training and mentorship to the team of Employment Intake Specialists.

Abbey’s approach to the practice of law is grounded in the belief that every employment dispute involves more than just legal rules. Behind each case is a person whose career, financial security, family, and sense of fairness may be affected. Abbey is committed to listening carefully to each individual’s circumstances and helping them understand their options as they navigate challenging workplace situations.

Abbey is admitted to practice law in Texas, South Carolina, and North Carolina.

Abbey earned her J.D., cum laude, from Harvard Law School in 2016, where she received Dean’s Scholar Prizes in Employment Law, Food and Drug Law, and Family Law. Her academic accomplishments reflect her strong interest in complex areas of law and her commitment to developing a well-rounded legal foundation.

Before attending law school, Abbey graduated summa cum laude from the Florida Institute of Technology in 2013 with a Bachelor of Science in Communications, with a concentration in Business/Marketing. During her undergraduate years, Abbey competed on the Women’s Varsity Tennis Team from 2009 to 2013, received the Female Scholar-Athlete Award in 2013, and obtained her private pilot’s license in 2009.

Abbey approaches her work with curiosity, compassion, and a commitment to helping people navigate difficult circumstances. She believes that the law can be a powerful tool for creating accountability and helping individuals understand and protect their rights in the workplace.

Why I Practice Law

Abbey chose to study law because she was drawn to the unique intersection of logic and humanity that the legal profession provides. Abbey wanted a career where she could challenge injustice, help people navigate difficult moments, and contribute to a system that, while imperfect, has the ability to create meaningful change.

Employment law provides Abbey with an opportunity to put those principles into practice by helping individuals navigate challenging workplace circumstances and understand the legal options available to them.

Outside the Office
