Jake Fondel
Jake Fondel is an attorney at Atlas Law Center, where he focuses on employment law matters. A first-generation attorney, Jake brings a strong commitment to advocacy, justice, and problem-solving to his practice. During law school at DePaul University College of Law, he served as a Senator in both the DePaul Student Government Association and the DePaul Bar Association. In his role with the Student Government Association, Jake successfully advocated for the inclusion of more than 700 law students in DePaul University’s health insurance plan, reflecting his dedication to identifying meaningful solutions and advocating for the needs of others. His experiences in leadership, legal services, and employment law have shaped his approach to providing thoughtful, effective representation to his clients.
Experience & Approach
Jake’s legal experience includes employment, housing, and consumer law. He has worked on employment discrimination matters involving protections under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act (PWFA), and applicable local statutes.
Before joining Atlas Law Center, Jake gained experience with the Illinois Department of Employment Security, where he developed a deeper understanding of employment-related legal issues and the challenges individuals may face in navigating the legal system. His commitment to advocacy has also been shaped by his involvement with organizations focused on access to justice and supporting individuals in need of legal assistance.
Jake believes that effective legal advocacy begins with listening to clients, understanding their individual circumstances, and developing practical solutions to their legal challenges. He approaches each matter with dedication, attention to detail, and a commitment to providing clients with high-quality legal representation.
Why I Practice Law
As a first-generation attorney, Jake understands the importance of perseverance and opportunity. His own journey, including working part-time jobs throughout high school and college to help fund his education, strengthened his belief in the importance of advocating for people who may not otherwise have a voice in the legal system.
Jake was drawn to the practice of law because it provides an opportunity to help others navigate difficult circumstances and pursue meaningful solutions. He is particularly passionate about advocacy and justice and strives to ensure that every client receives thoughtful attention, strong representation, and the support they need throughout the legal process.
